Deel 3 – Minskewolf – i.s.m. Elmar Kuiper
The Frisian poets Tsead Bruinja, Nynke Laverman and Elmar Kuiper use Frisian, English and Dutch in their work. Film director Ester Eva Damen created a series of visual narratives with them, each centered around a Frisian poem. Ester Eva lived part of her childhood in Friesland. She returned with the camera to reconnect with the landscape and people. Listening to Frisian language brought back forgotten feelings.
Tsead Bruinja lives and works in Amsterdam. He was Poet laureate in 2019 and 2020. Ester Eva shared her memories of barn parties in the Frisian countryside with him. This resulted in a poem and the film Hok fan Rou.
Nynke Laverman is a singer and theater maker. Ester Eva was inspired by a song text by Nynke: Kom as de fisken / calm mei iepen eagen / sûnder seare wurden. (Come like the fish / calm with open eyes / without sore words). As de Fisken was created with dancer Sabrina Huth.
Elmar Kuiper is an artist, poet and musician. He worked for many years in a psychiatric institution. Elmar’s poems about his time resulted in the performance and film Minskewolf with bilingual actor Rienk Nicolai.
